United Bank for Africa Zambia Limited (UBA Zambia) has scooped the prestigious ‘2021 Bank of the Year’ award by The Banker Magazine, a leading global finance news publication published by Financial Times of London.
UBA Zambia emerged as Zambia’s ‘Best Bank’ for a second year running, thanks to a combination of solid financials and its improved focus on capturing increased business within corporate value chains.
UBA Zambia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chinedu Obeta said the bank was honoured to be crowned ‘bank of the year’ at the virtual awards ceremony for a second year in a roll.
“We are delighted to have been recognized as the best bank in Zambia by the Banker Magazine for the second year running. The award is a testament to the hard work and strides that we have continued to make in enhancing and improving our products and services amidst the coronavirus pandemic.”

And at a continental level, UBA Plc was named the 2021 African bank of the year as a result of its impressive performance across all its subsidiaries.
The Middle East and Africa Editor for The Banker, John Everington, explained during the virtual event that a rigorous and highly analytical process is made annually to reach the decision for each Bank of the Year award and the institution’s reputation for independence, authority and integrity is thoroughly applied to each submission.
